“Physalis are fascinating fruits, and I love portraying the transparency of glass in my paintings. This work was completed using a painting knife.”
– Fiona Hooper
Fiona Hooper works mainly in oil, but also uses acrylic, mixed media and coloured pencil. Her subject matter centres on landscapes and modern still life, portrayed in an impressionistic representational style and often completed using a painting knife, with an emphasis on the effects of light and capturing the essence of the subject. Glass is a particular favourite subject and appears in several of her recent still life paintings.
As well as exhibiting and selling her work both in the UK and abroad (including at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery in London, the Landmark Art Fairs at Teddington, the Corner Gallery at Carshalton Beeches, the Kingston Artists Group, and many other exhibitions), Fiona is a well established portrait artist, having completed many commissions including people, dogs, horses, and other animals.
