“Burgh Island from Bantham is one of  my favourite places. Having visited this part of South Devon numerous times over many years, seeing the island in every conceivable weather, I was inspired to produce a series of paintings to reflect the ever changing view, as the island sits just off the coast, at times isolated at others tentatively joined to the mainland as the sea recedes.”

– Sid Sutton

Sid trained at Harrow School of Art and spent many years working in the BBC Graphic Design Department and in that time designed and filmed many well known title sequences, including: Pennies from Heaven, Shoestring, Doctor Who, Butterflies, Bergerac, Play for Today and numerous others. Post BBC Sid worked for most ITV companies and went on to set up a production company devising, directing, and producing corporate films as well as hand drawn animations for channel 4 childrens programmes.

Eventually Sid decided to go back to basics, back to his true love of drawing and painting. Since 2000 Sid has used these skills together with computer techniques in producing textile designs which have sold around the world including, UK, USA, Italy, France, Sweden, China, etc. Whilst occasionally still producing these designs, Sid’s main focus and effort is now on drawing and painting and he is interested in observing and interpreting, weather and lighting effects on landscape, people and any subject matter that strikes his interest, with a fresh, lively application of paint and colour on board or canvas.
